I think this is a perfectly fine way to use AI as the tool it can be. But I can imagine it all felt very ~forbidden~. I'm sure back in the day there were people who didn't consider you a true writer if you weren't using a pen but rather a typewriter. If it works, it works!
Jane, I agree that the way I used it -- as a collaborative partner, more or less -- is acceptable, and doesn't cross the line into "AI generated art". Unfortunately, my ethical objection is to how the tool was built, stealing work from other writers without compensation. That's something that doesn't work for me!
