I went for a walk to wonder
Where can I find wonder
In this suburb gridlocked
By sidewalks and cinderblocks?
Then a sunbeam touched my brow
And bled light into my eyes.
Late January in California
Is early spring, luring
Pink buds to the hedge,
A dandelion waiting to be a wish.
A lemon tree leaned over a fence
offering small suns for me to pocket,
And the clouds piled up
in the margins of the sky
Of fresh washed blue.

Wonder, Part 1.1 Something unexpected emerged on my walk today. Poems seem to come to me more frequently these days, and this one felt like it needed to go out today (even though it’s nearly midnight now). I’m on a journey chasing awe and wonder and it seems like sharing what I find is part of the quest. Yes, I know the flowers are purple not pink, and those are oranges not lemons! But the idea for the video came after the words started popping into my head, and there was no time to go back for extra video, because #work. Oh my goodness, I had to listen to myself read this poem so many times to make this! I hope it doesn’t sound as terrible to you as it does to me 😱#wonder #awe #poem #poetry#suburbanlife

An upwelling of poems is wonderful and a cause of celebration!
